It’s that time of the week again, FRIDAY! Last night after dinner I was having some serious mental arguments with myself about going to my boot camp class in the morning. That day I had done a power yoga class at 6 am and did a 4 mile hike with my boyfriend. My body felt tired, but even more than that my mind felt exhausted from the workouts. As soon as I started thinking about taking a day off I started to have those arguments within myself. I am sure you all know exactly what I am talking about. It goes something like this:
“Should I workout in the morning?”
“Nah, take a day off, you’ve been soo good lately”
“Okay…but I know that I will feel SO good after!”
“True, maybe you should just go”
Then an hour goes by and it happens all over again. Except then my mind says,
“I’ll just do a workout on my own, it’s better than nothing”
I finally had to actually talk it out loud with my family and then after some debate I made the decision to just GET UP AND GO! I am going to be out of town for the next two days so I know that I may not get too much exercise in this weekend, which is why I knew that I had to go to class even though I seriously wanted a day off. Before I went to bed I kept repeating the motto myself, WHEN IN DOUBT, WORKOUT! It’s a great saying because it’s so true. When I doubt my capabilities I need to just suck it up and do the work. I know that after every single workout I will feel accomplished and proud so I should not give that up for anything. Even if I wanted to sleep in a little bit for the first day of my vacation, I am more than happy that I pushed myself to go. Luckily for me, my class this morning was extremely challenging and made my mental debate worthwhile. I got a great sweat in first thing this morning so now I can relax and enjoy myself for the weekend!
This weekend will be filled with temptations to be unhealthy as most vacations are, so I will post something about staying on track even while on vacation. It is completely possible and not as hard as you might think. Remember, NO EXCUSES!
Enjoy the weekend…but not too much!
